I reserved a couple of sites years ago. Blankcruisefans.com and blank2cruisefans.com. I ran them mainly as blogs, mirrored them with still operational blogger sites under the same title.
First, if I recall, dormant sites, with not content, or otherwise open as being interpreted as squater sites, are vulnerable to companies coming after them for trademark issues. And these two sites might qualify given that I've not tried to update them in the last couple of years.
Second, I've read that some companies will spam Cease and Desist letter in fair numbers, to folks, even those whose sites really aren't violating trademark conventions.
In any case, I got email related to both, very non-descript with no details related to anything other that I had registered a website, had "posted content" using "Blank" trademark (a word) and they considered this a willful trademark infringement and cyberpiracy. They then demand I turn over any rights to access of the domain to them immediately.
It all sounds absurdly over-the-top, and in the end. But I'm curious if there are any good resources for webmasters on this topic. Any groups that lend advice, suggestions based on experience, etc. Specific terms to search wouldn't hurt either.
