New Company: Register "all" domain TLD's?

Hello,

For a new company, which domain name extensions should be registered?

I'm reading advise to "register all" but there are SO many and all are available.

What are the important ones.

Appreciate any advise. Thank you!

depends on where you are in the world, what business you are in, and where you intend to trade.

then all you really need is the .com and maybe the .us

I would argue to register the .net as well. You may not need it, but with media in particular, you don't want people stealing or confusing your traffic.

.com .net .us are good.

How about .org .biz .info?

The last post mentioned stealing traffic, how does that one work exactly.

For example if the company name is APPLEORANGE, someone registers APPLEORANGE.info, and it would come up on search engine results next to the .COM since it's the same keyword and that person's domain would redirect to his/her company?

But there are like probably 200+ domains extensions to utilize this technique.

It wouldn't!

the other party would have to promote the site better than the one they are competing against. There is zero advantage in "keyword hostnames"

it's more about branding, than search. The .com is what the majority of people would type in when guessing.
So if you owned company.net and had branded the identity of Company, you could have a potential disavantage of loosing type in traffic to company.com

.Com is the one i recommend. But that could be the domain name is already taken
But .CON is the best one

I believe that you need to register the name with different domain name extensions. With main ones and then add ccTLD

Yup .com is best and easy to remember more over your business is commercial type if it would be ngo then .org will be best.

Avoid all others. .com is the thing that you need. In other cases you will lose a terrific amount of traffic to your website. ".org and .biz cannot be compared to commonplace common sense oriented .com's fame.
Literally, i dont find such a crucial use of ".con" thing against ".com"

I think it is needed to have all major domains for you brand name, it would be:

.com, .net, .org, .biz, .info, .eu and then buy domains for you country/market

They are 200+ .cctlds. Unless you are Google or Yahoo I would not do it.
