.com is better. But if you can register all domain names.

.com is the most popular domain type and I recommend going with .com is possible. However, other extensions like .net, .org or .biz are OK too.

Not everyone. We had many pre-sale questions like "Can I host site like xyz? with you?"
Usually we go to xyz.com and if it's fine, we confirm that such a site can be hosted here. Then customer goes to order page and enters his domain as xyz.info, xyz.biz or similar...

If you can find a .com that would be the best otherwise if you can't, others like .net or .us will do just fine as well.

I vote for .com . It is better IMO. and more easy to remember domain name when you register it with .com.

I would go with a .com or .net if both are taken I would think of another domain name but that's simply me.

Personally my first preference would always be .com followed by .net and finally .org
The reason being that .com is without a doubt the most universally established domain extension, for even the least net savvy users .com means something.
Also in my opinion there is a certain bias held by many against certain extensions such as .info or .biz (not sure about .us). Whilst these domain extensions are probably considered incorrectly by many to be spammer domains (I'm sure in reality the bulk ratio of spam will come from .com domains) this does mean that a fair percentage of users will regard these extensions negatively and a trust issue like that in my eyes isn't a good start for any website, especially if its due to the very first thing a user interacts with...the url.
Just my 2 cents worth.

I couldn't have said it better. As far as ranking goes, does not matter but it's "easier" for the human if it's a .com followed by .net or .org if the .com is not available.
