I've been a domain hobbyist for some time but this particular sale has me baffled. Any pricing feedback you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Domain: ACEFEST.COM
PR: 4 - 5 (waivers)

Current Purpose: Official website of ACE Film Festival, one of the fastest-growing film industry events on the East Coast. Around since 2006.

Sale Includes: Domain name, all graphics, logos and web content. Rights to take over ACEFEST is included in sale as well, which makes this more of a business for sale than just a website for sale.

A ball park estimate would be 2.5 times the anual income as you should ALWAYS be looking to make back your outlay in 2 1/2 years.

AND you should have an accountant decide on the value NOT a website that has no access to the accounts for your prospective purchase.

Yea, the issue with this particular domain is the amount of income directly generated from it is hard to quantify. The company made money every year through the website but it was FOR the film festival. Does that count?

For instance, we would collect entry fees for film submissions and sell tickets through acefest.com. Would those numbers affect our pricing of the domain?

More importantly, in your opinion, would anybody be interested in this domain?

Only the income that come directly through the source you are looking to buy would count towards the valuation.
For example: If the entire festival generates $500,000 but only 10% of that is from the website then the valuation should be on the 10% part.

This is why a business accountant should be looking at the actual accounts, so you are not paying an arbitary amount judged on the dubious idea that a "name" is worth something and the utterly useless toolbar PR value is worth anything.

There also needs to be legal safeguards to protect you from the festival operators taking the income producing factors elsewhere after the sale for an agreed period, otherwise you will be buying something that has no "ingoing" for an inflated price.

You need accountants and a legal advisor NOT a forum thread and some "guesstimating" sites.

domain pricing is based on the income and also can consider the ranking. alwys pricing based on the annual income may be one year income or double of it.. But this 4-5 PR cost more than that...
