The Chinese government agency in charge of registering Domain Names contacted me today and asked if I objected to a Chinese company registering 6 variations of my Domain Name, modelenginebuilder which I have registered in com, org and net variations. This company has requested registration of modelenginebuilder.com.cn, org.cn, net.cn and the asia, hg, tw and modelenginebuilder.cn.
Model Engine Builder is a trademarked name of my magazine so I could probably take them on but it is probably cheaper and faster just to register all possible variants of modelenginebuilder.
Are there any services that can do this for me without a lot of wasted time? Of course the Chinese organization will happily allow me to register the 6 names in question by paying them $20 per year for a minimum of 5 years, a $720 payment. This could be a scam but the registrar seems to be a legitimate company.  |
