Hi,

I am just wondering what takes to make a site like co.cc. When you sign up with them, you get a subdomain like http://yourname.co.cc

How are they able to provide DNS service for subdomains?

Thanx

just like any other host does, it's only an entry in the DNS zone file.

I know how to make a wildcard DNS entry for subdomains such that anything.mydomain.com would be directed to a folder on my server.

But how do I make a DNS settings so that subdomain anything.mydomain.com would have a nameservers pointing to a different server?

Assuming I am running cPanel on Apache

Thanx

if you are the dns authority for
domain.com
and you want the dns authority for
sub.domain.com
to be a list of other name servers then thats called DNS delegation and you can do that by setting up a number of NS records for sub.domain.com.

You can also delegate domain.com directly, but it would be better to just change the authoritative name servers at the registrar
