I am not sure but I would advise you against using .info especially since you will be paying the same price as a .com after a year, and now they are around 2-3 bucks most places I see. Also for this very little discount of price, google will not trust your site as easily due to spam issues with the domains.

Isn't Google still selling the for $1.99?

Godaddy.com has them for $.99 but after one year they go up to $9.99 I think.

Yes thats true, but you can always transfer your domain before a year to a registrar who provides a less cheaper than 9.99. no?
