Hi,

I Think someone with about 30+ domain names is too many! You cannot spend time on each domain.

I would fall in to that category, MGS. I stopped doing that for sometime now but went off and registered three more a week ago.

I agree with you. My intention was to sell some of them for a profit.

If you're holding on to them and planning to develop them, sometimes the sky can be the limit. Right now, for what I am doing with my domains I think I have just a bit too many. I haven't even started using some of them, but I do plan to in a month or so(I have 10 - 15 at the moment).

Its just that when you think of a good name and it's actually free, to let it go by a few weeks in open registration seems kind of dangerous. I'm sure there are a lot of people who have lost out because of waiting to long.

I'm getting close to the hundred mark and I think I'm addicted to buying good names. And its exactly like you said, can't leave a good name for the fear that somebody would grab it. This happened to me once.

How do you keep track on all of your domain names?

I have domains on Godaddy,Yahoo Small Business, 1and1, and couple of other sites. I keep track of them with multiple email ids especially for that purpose. Thats for added safety though, to make sure I'm aware of any changes to the domains.

Um.. for me, 10+ domains will be too many.
At least it will make me loose the excitement when I buy one...

Never too many - as long as you can manage them. I can see how if you're not using them that they would be expensive - but if you're getting your money back - never too many!

I don't know, kinda depending on what type of sites they are. If you have like 10 decent forums, it's impossible to monitor all of them by yourself. But on the other hand, if its a more service thing like file-hosting it probably will only take 5 mins a day to check the logs

Could you explain that in detail please? Sounds interesting.

Sure, I assume that the domains are active.

To manage a decent forum an admin has to post regularly (like the admin here), keep the discussion going, make sure all users are following the rules in each forum etc.

On the other hand on a more 'service' oriented site like file hosting or image hosting (eg. image shack) the admin just has to keep the service going, making sure there are glitches bugs etc.

So in comparison, the service site requires a lot less work and maybe owning one site is like owning ten if you reuse your scripts.

Hope this clear things up
