sometimes i will go look at some available lists found all over the web, other times ill just want to do something and pick something out of thin air.

ive had pretty good luck so far with a few names ive found, i was just curious to see what everyone was doing

Well, i prefer having my main keywords in domain name.

I choose based on the sites I want to run - I haven't just chosen one speculatively yet.

I like to hyphenate all of my domain names, just to avoid funny interpretations, and to make them easy to read.

Well it hard. I usually just have an idea then search for a domain name for it! Sometime i use software that will pick load of domain names for me

I tried to use softwares or online sites which take a keyword and try to search a domain name for you. So far it has been unsuccessful for me.

on equestion to etali, Have you ever had any problems seeling a domain because it had hyphens in int.
I can grab some really wanted domains which i'd like with hyphens in it. But, cant make mind whether they are any good or not.

Well, whatever comes to my mind at that moment...I'll probably decided to take that into suggestion. I currently have a lot but don't really plan on purchasing a domain for any of those; only for my latest site I'm going to start.

Coming up with the domains and picking one is not hard, it's resisting to buy it that's hard. Look in some dictionary or medical book and see whatever you find there that may be of interest to you, that is not already taken that is.

If I have a idea, and start thinking of a domain name for it... I often go with names that are a little unique and not so common.

I try to think of a 2 word combination, one niche and one keyword. Combine them into something marketable, and you have a winner.

Also, generic is awesome too. I purchased GamingPage.net. If that isn't a perfect description, 100% generic, and easily remembered, I don't know what is.

For domains that have dropped, I tend to scan the domains with www.trafficrankers.com to see if there are any backlinks on them.

Keywords, pronouncability, brandability, and of course it has to make sense!

Well for me,
I just write down a list of my favorite words/sounds and then just mix and match them until I get the one I'm satisfy with.
It works great!

I've had good luck with picking something that doesn't exist yet. ProfessionalGamers/net's idea is pretty close to what I do.
