What would be a good time to register your domain for? Not just any domain, but a domain you are very interested in developing and working on for a long time.

I usually register my domains for a year, and if things would go well, i would register it for another year. Is this the way to go? or should I just register it for 3+ years?

If I still want to continue with the domain/project..
reg it for one more year again..

if the development has been going good and the site/project gets known and traffic I would probally buy renew it for more years after the first year.

I think it is really better to register it every year as such when you register for continuously three years and when your domain suddenly is not gettin much hits, it would really be a flop leading to loss of money..!
I register it every year and not continuously. It is better and safer. It is gonna cost the same and hence the cost is not a big problem here. But, when your domain does not get more hits, then it would really lead to problem leading you to a loss when you want to sell the domain.
So, you will hav to take precautions before doing something like this. It is better to take a nice advice from a Domain Professional.

I usually renew the domains when there are less then 2 months less, so i guess ill continue doing that, just dont want to have some accident and not be able to access the internet to renew my domains...
