Is EBay a good alternative to sell your domain names?

Well this is a question that many people wonder about. Usually domain names, unless secured by a reputable member, are scams. EBay really can do nothing about this, because there is no way to track these people down.

Would you think EBay is a better alternative, or would you go with a place like Sedo, that uses Secure Payment Transactions? Think about it. If you're going to sell a huge domain, why not do it the secure way. Plus... Many people use the Western Union method, which can cause a lot of trouble. There are so many Western Union Scams out there.

Advise and your thoughts are appreciated,

Jason F.

I would never ever buy a domain from eBay. It is so easy for you to get scammed on there. Actually, I may buy a domain on there if the seller was a powerseller.

My judgement is always based on reputation. If he's got 98% or better with atleast 100 sales, then I would.

Well yeah, that is more like it, but normally you see people with none, or a not so hot reputation. EBay is a great place to buy and sell products, but domains? Although they do manage to sell everything. :jeez:

It would be very easy for a scammer to give himself a good reputation on ebay. I defianly would only buy froma powerseller unless I could absolutly prove the seller is legit. Discussing this subject is a good idea b/c it does help anyone not knowing to know what is available.

Which is why there are alternatives like Sedo, etc. They really are worth it, and the same amount of money if not less to sell them on.

Unless you are a "Power Seller" on eBay I would not reccomend selling a domain.

EBay could be catchy when it comes to selling a Domain Name using there service. I would use Sedo or auction or sell it using a Domain Name Forum IMO.

I've sold some names on eBay, but I've also listed a number of names there that didn't sell, didn't even get a look. They were sold on other sites without much of a problem.

I personally sell a lot of stuff on eBay, and buy some now and then. But domain names don't seem to be a big seller on there, unless it's an exceptional name.

I have sold tickets, etc on EBay. They are very good at that. I have also sold trading cards, older things that sell more on those type of websites. Never really sold a domain on there though, even though I have seen some pretty exceptional names being sold through EBay.
