I'll be launching a review site. Would it be worthwhile buying my own real name and use it as a re-direct?

Lol, no. The thing is, some of my readers know me by it. And I'm worried that some of my rivals could buy it and have it redirect to them, or worse yet put up a slanderous site.

So your saying 2 domain names will redirect to your site? Sounds like it will get alittle confusing.

Wouldn't domain squatting laws allow you to ovetake it. Besides, you could always put in a reserve bid.

No no. There would be one primary domain. And then, like some sites do, a second to redirect to it. Its actually not all that uncommon.

But the person has got the same name as me - so surely they have as much right to it as I do?

Hmm, yeah I suppose so. I'd just place a reserve bid if I were you.

Then you're not using the right place. There are companies that bid the second they expire.

[a little off topic this one]

talking about re-directing I was doing some random url typo`s for a while agoo..
and childish as a 18 year old norwegian can be I started to type stuff like
pule.no <-- means fu*k on norwegian and words like that..
so I typed sed.no <-- wich means sperm
and I got re-directed to a webhosting site .. :P how random is that ?
Think it just gives a bad reputation for the company if you ask me..

Hmm....I would just buy the domain, just to have peace of mind. Domains are cheap if you get them at the right place.

Yeah if you have a plan and put enough effort in you can easily make that cost back.
