I agree with Bernard. GoDaddy is one of those companies that gets customer service. They don't wait for you to call them with a question, instead they call you a couple days after your purchase to see if you have any questions. They don't upsell on the phone. They don't transfer you from person to person. They're polite and they get the job done. Just recently I had a couple of domains auto-renew and I had forgotten to turn the auto-renew feature off because I didn't want them any more. GoDaddy refunded my money instantly, no questions asked. Even if someone else was a couple dollars cheaper, I would stick with GoDaddy simply because of their customer service.

I only use godaddy for domans where there is no gray area concerning the rights of the domain and its implied trademark. Using GoDaddy for a domain that uses a typo for instance is just asking for headaches.

Frozen account, fees, even if you are in the right your recourse is limited. They've basically got you until you pay up. Not worth it.

I use GD, and find their interface a little limiting - however their customer service has been excellent.

I hate godaddy. They spam me to death unnecessarily. They refuse to let me cancel my account.

Here's what I am looking for.

NO HOSTING
NO EMAIL PACKAGES
NO EMAIL SPAM
NO ADVERTISING
ONE FIXED PRICE ON MY DOMAIN
Modify primary secondary DNS

JUST GIVE ME MY DOMAIN AND CHARGE MY CARD - SIMPLE.

Godaddy is incapable of doing that without trying to take your life from you.

My two cents.

Actually I use GoDaddy for all my domains (almost all 150 of them). Never tried their hosting services. Their email support is quite fast enough for me (usually around 6-12 hours).

While I have been happy with them, I wouldn't claim that GoDaddy is the best out there, it depends on your needs really.

I have been with Godaddy for many years now and have never had any major problems. I only reg names with them and host elsewhere (i dont think theyre good for hosting). If you buy and sell domains, its a plus when your selling a name at Godaddy rather than a less know registrar. They also have 24/7 free phone support which is nice if anything comes up.

I use GoDaddy all the time and LOVE them. I have tried a handful of other registrars and as far as I've found GoDaddy is the best. I haven't had any problem with domains not showing up. Buying and transferring is all easy. Plus, this may not be a great reason to sell you on, but they support Rev3 shows that I like and I want to see them do well so I support their sponsors. I guess I'm a good little consumer.

I've never had a bad experience with Godaddy but I understand that they are very touchy on some issues. They are quick on the draw when someone files a complaint against you. The only annoyance I have with them is they lock you out to easily for mistyped passwords and then you have to call them to have it reset.

Godaddy is fantastic for domains. I use them for just about all of them (about 200).

I've only got around 20 with them. I just don't seem to hold on to domains long. Need to keep up with them.

They also don't have the greatest support from my experience. It takes them very long to reply by email (12 or 24 hours, not sure which) though I hear they have good phone support.

I've always used their phone support which was fine. They always try to push surveys on you afterwards though.

My experience with their phone service has been great. Sometimes after I register a name, I get a phone call (from a real live human!) asking if everything went OK and if they could do anything for me. No surveys, just honest service. Pushing, registering, dropping, and editing domain info is always a blast. Don't know where these horror stories are coming from.

Personally, I like NameCheap. My biggest problem with GoDaddy was when I backordered a domain. GoDaddy couldn't secure it for me and then it went through two other resellers until someone took it and decided to sell it to me for $600. That page is now (and has been for at least 8 months) a parked page when I really meant to use it for personal purposes. It's kind of frustrating...

If I had to do a domain backorder again, I definitely would NOT use GoDaddy. Maybe Sedo, though.
