My site looks right in Firefox, but my hacks for IE do not work in IE 7. I need to make them work or make IE 7 display my site correctly?

thanks a ton,

carter

You're going to have to use conditional comments and separate stylesheets to hold your 'hacks' for targeting the browsers below IE 7 and a separate conditional comment and stylesheet for IE 7 'fixes' where they are necessary.
About conditional comments: http://www.quirksmode.org/css/condcom.html

ok, thanks. I am doing that.

how can I get IE7 to understand the padding on these

Code:
div>#nav .current_page, div>#nav li a{
padding: 60px 95px;
}

? It cuts them off way too short! Lame! thanks

IE7 has no problem with padding that I'm aware of, but get rid of the child selector and just make it div#nav etc.

Does anyone know a css selector that IE 7 doesn't support but modern browsers do?

thanks

you DO know that in FF there is no VISIBLE navigation ??? If I pass my mouse over the center area, your rollover titles show up, but essentially there is nothing there. This is really not a good idea.

As for what IE 7 supports and doesn't, you might want to read this:

I'm sorry, I forgot I had that version up.

check it now.

I just added borders around the padding. I am having custom icons made tommorrow. they are gonna go in the boxes, but with the borders off. But IE 7 cuts them off!

and Lady in Red, thanks for helping me out. You're always so helpful! You've saved my butt on many occassions.

carter!

Yes, that's much better

Ok, I don't have IE 7 installed on my machine, had to check our sandbox machine for that. The hover titles are way out of place when you roll over the 'invisible' boxes in the center.

You might want to post your question to the list at www.css-discuss.org. All the gurus are there

I tried that, but I'm not sure how to use it. And I haven't gotten any replies, although I wouldn't know how to check.

Is there another forum I should try?

It's an email list. Subscribe to the list, then you can submit your questions via email and you'll get replies. I'll warn you though, it's a VERY busy list, so you might get a batch of emails unless you choose digest mode.

The gurus are looking for IE 7 bugs, so I would think you'd get an answer.

You might try this site: http://www.gtalbot.org/BrowserBugsSection/MSIE7Bugs/, maybe email the guy.

ok, I tried using it. They told me to use a conditional comment for both IE and IE 7

I did it. I still don't know what I can do for IE 7.

It looks atrocious.

and I email that guy at tgalbot.org and the email came back to me. It was the email from the site, but it said it's not a real email.

bummer.
