CSS Layout & Browser Issues

I've been working at putting my own website together inbetween working on other websites and I've run into a bit of a problem and looking for someone to please help me out.

I have laid out my webpages, and in the middle of the page I have a CSS text area that I can make scroll-able or fixed. Comes in handy since my background is unique and it doesn't give me the ability to repeat the images.

But last night as I'm finishing it I ran into a odd issue. Suddenly it's working in Internet Explorer but not in Firefox (I'm a big Firefox user) which is odd. Usually it's the other way around.
The image in the CSS background is properly placed in IE, but it's offset in Firefox.

Could someone take a look at this and see if they can help me fix the issue?

Thank you in Advance to any that can help!
Josh

This is wierd.

Just a guess. I am counting 7 rows that it is spanning and the code is asking for 8 rowspan. This might be throwing it out.

We have a tendency to trash ie because of all the fixes we need for it. The reason it wigs out is that it trys to guess at what we want. in a case like this it may be guessing right.

Firefox doesn't guess. This is what makes it rock solid.. But, we gotta get it right.

This is the only thing that I see. I am tired and my eyes are not fresh. but i can only see the 7 rows not the 8..?? Worth a try...

It looks like you just need to take the fixed center off the background for the content div. That seemed to fix things for me in Firefox. Not sure what it will do in IE, but I'm thinking it will work there too.

Hey Guys, Thanks for responding.

CHIPJOHNS
- There are actually 8 rows there in total. 5 menu items, the header, and then 2 spacers (one above menu and one below)

Vangogh
- Actually I had that initially. Taking out the "fixed center" fixes the issue in Firefox, but then the problem shows up in IE. Sadly I don't think I'm going to win this browser-war issue.

Normally I look at things through Firefox and it looks fine, but because still 80% of the population hasn't found out about that program yet they are still stuck using IE. So I have to keep opening my pages in IE to see how others will see them. Sadly the result is not always pleasant.

If anyone else has a suggestion on how to get it work in both IE and Firefox I'd love to hear it.

Thanks,
Josh

Hey Josh,

I can see the 8 rows. But I only see that cell (the one holding the image that is moving aroung) is spanning 7 of them. When the table cell starts in the second row down you need to take that into consideration.

If you look closely I believe that the cell that is holding the image as a background image is only spanning 7 of the 8 cells. It is below the Header row thus this should not be counted.

I have been wrong before , but I believe this is the case.
