Hey everybody, I'm brand-spankin'-new to web design and this is my very first website and I'm having a wee bit of trouble. Here's the issue: I use disjointed rollovers with the main navigation, the navigation buttons have an opacity of 8.0. Unfortunately, the opacity trickles down to the span itself causing the images that pop up when hovering over the navigation to also have an opacity of 8.0. Setting the spans opacity to 1.0 does not work. Does anybody know of any method to fix this using only xthml and css? I'm trying to avoid JavaScript and Flash for this site. Is there even a way to make disjointed rollovers without using the span tag but only using xhtml and css? Here's the website so you can see for yourself: www.dionnawater.com. Anyway, I hope someone has an answer. I may just be out of luck. Thanks guys.

Correct, opacity is inherited and you can't get around it, that's just the way it works (until CSS3 anyway).

The method you've used is perfectly acceptable w/o going to javascript.
