Hi,

I'd like to know if any of you have used or use a CSS framework. Does it help you to save time on your projects? What are the limitations?

Have you used any of these:

Cheers,

I've never used a css framework. Quite honestly I didn't know they existed until you mentioned it here.

They look like some basic code to create different layouts and in that sense I guess I use my own where appropriate. If I build a 3 column layout tomorrow the code going to look similar to the last 3 column I developed.

I can image where css frameworks could be useful for people struggling with css. In truth it doesn't take me all that long to code a layout so I'm not sure how useful I'd find them or how much time they'd save me.

I wonder if they might limit creativity in design for people who rely on the framework without learning how it works.

I have never used a framework. Most of my projects are small or medium sized, and although I reuse several of the same ideas in them, I haven't ever found a compelling reason to use a library of CSS.

I have been watching some interesting videos today made by the folks of Yahoo, however. All of their site layout is based (unsurprisingly) on a CSS framework which they developed, and also share with the world as open source. For a site as gigantic as Yahoo, having an organized framework of reusable code is a must.

I suppose if you are very methodical (I am not), a framework might save you time on smaller projects also.
