CSS Text Problems

I am having a crazy problem with my site. None of my CSS text is working properly. Here is the coding:

What exactly is wrong??
Before we go anywhere, please move you meta tags up into the head section, I hate seeing code like this.
Also, I hate to see tables, I suggest you move from tables to divs, but whatever.
And, please put your code between the [ CODE ] tags on the forum, thanks.

The problem is that my text does not appear with the CSS changes. For example, my paragraph is using style12, yet when I go to the browser and look at it, it does have the style12 changes (the 12 font, dark black text, etc). And it goes for all the text on the page. So something is conflicting with the coding or something, but I have no idea what. Any ideas?
Regarding the tables, you are right, I should use DIV tags, but I don't really know how.....need to look into it.
Also, sorry about not placing the CODE tags on, didn't cross mind....but they are on now. =D

Typical Dreamweaver MESS of code.
Create ID's and classes that have MEANING - not style10, style12, etc. - those have no meaning at all.
Lose the tables for layout - that's NOT modern web design, tables were meant for tabular data only.
You are running into the cascade and specificity issues. I suggest that you learn what those mean and how they work.
If you're going to use the XHTML doctype, then coding like "align=center" is NOT proper for that doctype -its old deprecated code that is better left behind. It's presentational, which is what CSS is meant to do.
The first thing you need to do is get rid of all of this kind of nonsense:

That's just a mess and that's what happens when you let DW create it's own code w/o you understanding what to do. With all that you've got the potential to have all kinds of stuff clashing - clean all that out and create ONE class that does what you want - not 10. Then you might be able to figure out just what is affecting your text formatting.

Dreamweaver is a great tool, I use it, but if you are going to use it professionally, I recommend learning to style and code HTML documents BY HAND. |
