do you all put pop ups on your website? why or why not...pros cons? i am in the middle of a redesign and am considering not putting them on the new site

I do not use popups on my site, primarily because personally I immediately close any website I happen upon if even a single popup occurs and I imagine other people feel the same. Not that popups couldn't be effective in certain situations, but for the majority of websites I think it can only annoy your visitors and hurt your revenue.

I don't use popups (ads) at all. I find them annoying on other sites so I don't put them on my own. But, for members who have not finalized their registration, they get a popup (customization from vb.org) aimed at unconfirmed members telling them to go find their email and click the link...or if there is no email, look in their junk box or request another email with link.

I know that popup ads pay well, but I just don't like them at all.

I don't use them as my competitors don't and by me using them would only give my visitors a very good reason to use my competitors sites rather than mine.
