Hey, I e-mailed a few CPM networks but I'm still awaiting a response, can you help? My questions are...

Do you still get paid even if a popup from your site is blocked by a browser or program?

If no, then is there really much money to be made considering most browsers have automatic popup blockers?

Thanks,

Khalid.

No, in CPM you only get paid if the ad is shown.

Yes there is. Not everyone has pop-up blockers, and not all pop-up blockers block all pop-ups.

I wonder what percentage of internet users do not have popup blockers, considering browsers such as firefox have them built in.

With more and more people using firefox, don't you think the popup publisher market will cease to exist in a few years?

Even IE after service pack 2 has a built in pop-up blocker. In my opinion pop-up ads are usually a great way to scare people away from your site unless your site is just incredibly unique and useful.

pop ups normally direct people away from your site, get a javascript action on when they close the window, the popup opens, sometimes they wont even know its off you!

Pop-ups are a great way to generate extra revenue for websites that already has very low ratio of returning visitors.

I want a good exit popup network that pays via paypal for www.freeturnkey.net as people will not return to the site once they have all the scripts, unless i keep updating with new ones (which is very little due to cost!).

Can anyone recommend a good network? The guys at paypopuptraffic have multiple bad reviews and they were rather unprofessional in e-mails.

Perhaps your sites, to be frank, suck. I visited some of the ones on your sig and they do infact need a lot of work, And by a lot of work I mean delete-from-server-and-start-over work. Thats probably why no one responds.

usually popup are paid per impression there's a certain time of wait for the whole page to be displayed in front of your users/visitors without this or a page being filtered will mean no money for you.

Honestly, compared to MFA sites there is nothing wrong with any of his sites.

There are many company sites that 'suck' but it doesn't stop them making money ... just maybe prevents them making more money.

At the end of the day, not everyone will have the same taste in websites or interested in whether or not something looks great, but whether or not they gain any value from using it.

Regarding the bandwidth usage on the downloads - why give the option of downloading from your site if it is costing you money when there are mirror sites available. Offering big download files will be an intense use of the bandwidth - so surely it could be broken down better to share out the bandwidth use.

I don't really care about stupid opinions, I didn't post my sites in the "Website reviews" section. I put the downloads on mirror sites which is cutting down the bandwidth.

I'm using ValueClick and Adsense. Both are paying crap however some other sites are earning more so I'm covered!

Hard for me to justify using pop-ups when I find them to be such a royal pain - that golden rule thing, I guess.

OMG, i'm a complete n00b at CPM. From reading this thread, does it mean all the services are pop-ups?

How about pop-unders? Aren't they more effective? The visitor doesn't even know they are there until they "try" to leave your site.

As far as pop-ups go, if some one came to that site and sees a pop-up blocked, they may be interested in knowing what was on the pop up and temporarily allow them.

Almost the same topic:
We have all heard that "free" raises the spam blockers on a lot of ISP's but the ones that get through have a better response than trying to say "complimentary". At least that is what Mike G says and I tend to believe him on that subject.

I am a huge hockey fan and I visit the forum at oilfans.com. They use pop ups and pop unders. It doesn't bother me that much because I like the forum and there is a lot of traffic. I am not sure if they used those just starting out, but I think it would drive a lot of new forum members away if they used it from the beginning.
Just my couple of pennies.
