I hope someone here can share their experience running a single-celebrity site... I started one on X'mas eve, and in that week alone had close to 1000 unique visitors ... and now for the first week of Jan I am also getting close to 1000 uniques. This is really my first attempt at traffic building so go easy on me :

I use NeverBlueAds at the moment but while I have been getting the "impressions" (obviously), I have not been getting any converts! Google trends says there has been an increase in search for this single-celebrity so I'd really hate for it to go to waste

What are some of the ways I can monetize my single-celebrity site? Here are some stats below...

Some off-the-cuff suggestions:

-Subscriptions to celebrity magazines
-Amazon.com or price comparison links to this celebrity's movies/albums/books
-General interest stuff like freebie offers
-Polls... put up a poll page on your site, make the offer something like "Should Britney have custody of her kids? Cast your vote for a $500 Visa Gift Card" and send them to a matching email/zip submit offer... neverblue or leadermarkets should have some.

Rob, thank you so much for your reply.... I was half hoping you would see this post, as yours were the first posts that I read on EarnersForum and I saw you posted in August a tip on how to make $100 a day or something... unfortunately that was an August-only tip so I missed it

But thanks, I'll give the last suggestion a shot as Neverblue does have some of these offers. The problem I see with this poll trick, is that people tend not to complete those zip offers even after voting.

This is a good idea. People love to give their opinion. You can post a poll that will take them to the email/zip submit offer and possibly have them convert.

Have you placed PPC already (opting as a publisher)?

You could also sell ad spaces, text links, banners, etc. to similar niched site..

Hey just be careful with the "Vote Now To Win Yada Yada" - this *could* be seen as an incent. Check with you AM to be sure - people have been burned in the past *ahem*. Heh.

Monetizing untargeted traffic is tough. I would start to think a little differently. instead of the "I want money now" mentality, try to think of ways to retain that bulk of traffic you are receiving.

Would this topic warrant a forum or any sort of community-based interaction? If you could get some retention going and start to snowball your daily uniques you will be golden. Developing a community around the site, and then building off that is a way to compound traffic to an extreme degree - with the added benefit of visitor loyalty and word of mouth growth.

From there, you'll start to see more of what you can do. If you're getting boatloads of page-views, try using OpenAds in conjunction with the major CPM networks. Allow Adsense/YPN to step in if your inventory isnt being filed or if they produce an overall higher CPM. But also, don't forget that the CPM networks allow ads from different networks on the same pages. Boatloads of traffic + even $1 CPM = serious coin.

Plus you could introduce perhaps a small membership fee for added perks within the community. IE: No Ads + an avatar + whatever you think will work.

i say you put itunes, amazon, posters.com, ebay, any big sites.

all the celebrity stuff for that celeb you are doing your site on.

and test multiple CPA offers on your page.

if its a guy celeb probably a girl visitor.. if its a girl celeb HOT then probably a guy visitor.

for a guy maybe a hot dating site.... also try ringtones..

I've dealt with single celebrity sites before...

and in my experience... you've got to be careful at what methods you pick to make money... let me explain..

What celebrity are you promoting? And what age range is their following?

When you answer this question keep in mind if it's mostly kids below the age of 18 you're gonna get like 0 or less conversions of people ordering stuff through ad links on your site and the big reason why is that they don't own credit cards and 99% of parents won't order crap for their kids online.

So that being said you need to cater to the needs of your traffic. When dealing with a celebrity site there are two or three things you can do to make money easily.

1. Get google adsense on there and try to target the ads for free things relating to that celebrity e.g. free concert tickets, win a date with..., get **** ring tones...etc your main focus is to try to get your text ads to look appealing to your traffic. And if your market is crazed kids that are totally hooked on that celeb have ads that will intrigue them to click.

2. I assume if you have half a brain you'll have an image gallery for your celebrity already... and if you don't stop what you're doing this second and get on it. typically the #1 things fans are looking for are images. Now, when you have a gallery put all your pics on a paid image sharing network like http://shareapic.net/ where you get paid like 22 cents per 1000 views. While that's not much... think of it this way... you've got 1000 people on your site and 1000 pictures, each member looks at each picture... that means you made an easy $220.

3. Ensure than you are catching their emails and the people are signing up to be members... offering a forum is usually the best way to get them to sign up.... after you've got a bunch and the site is running itself move on to another celeb and advertise it on your first site.

Are you signed up to CJ?
They have a program where people sign up to take a shot at being an actor or something like that.
That may be of interest to your kinds of visitors and I think they pay per lead.
I can’t be bothered going to check for the exact details at this time but I hope it helps some.
