How long to you keep a non-productive affiliate ad up and running before replacing it with something else?

I find that I am very impatient with affiliate ads, where I think I may be more successful if I let them stay static in one place for a while.

Thoughts?

I guess I should add to this.

Are you successful with your approach?

well i would do a comparison. Say if you remove adsense on an above the fold slot and you were making 20$ a day, now you change this to an CPA ad or something else, How much money do you want to lose?

I learned this the hard way, I was trying to monetize one of my sites and removed all the adsense from the site , dropped my income on the site from 50-2$ a day. After a few weeks of trying different ads , I placed adsense back in the above the fold position and now I am makeing 20+ a day from adsense while still looking for that right CPA Ad that works.

I would say if your running YPN or Adsense, to remove the ads one at atime until you find the ones that really mesh well with your users. Dont do like I did and drop all your revenue immediately.

Test the ads for a day or two and move to the next... dont waste your money, also look at your logs and see when the most traffic comes to your site and place the ads up at that time,, Like weekends or 5-9pm then see how they do. It will take some time to get your site monetized good.

if they don't earn you within 24 hours they're not worth your time and space.

This applies only if you are putting it on a normal website... if you are doing direct landing pages etc... you can go through 50 tries before you make the right one but once you get it right its gold...
