I am with CJ for quite some time now but haven't earned from them. I used to promote Jamster ringtones. I get clicks but no conversions so I decided to let go of them. Good thing I found EF and learned about CPA. I'm with RevenueGateway now and earning.

I have CJ on 1-2 sites of mine. It doesn't perform too well for me but my audience isn't really the right audience for it.
I'm looking to design some landing pages and perhaps do a few AdWords campaign and see if there's any money to be made for me from CJ.

I used to make pretty good money at CJ, but I broke one of their rules when I didn't know any better and got banned there. I wish I could get back in. You always get paid there because the checks are written by CJ and they collect from their advertisers, unlike some other ad networks where you can get stiffed if the advertiser goes bankrupt of just plain doesn't pay up. Just because one advertiser there didn't work for you doesn't mean others won't.
It's absolutely critical to match up ads that are relevant to the page you are putting them on and very focused to the product you are advertising, not unlike Adsense ads. The best thing is to forget banner ads and link directly to specific products in the body of related articles with textlinks.
Product review sites also work well, where you find a bunch of sponsors with products that fill the same niche and then compare them with links to all of them. But review products you actually know something about and if one is crap, say so, your readers won't believe you if you tell them they are all wonderful.
I just read an interview in a trade magazine for affiliates I get, where they interviewed a guy named Jeremy Palmer who made a million dollars last year at CJ.

I've used CJ for several years, but I've never gotten stellar performance... until this month. Yahoo expanded their affiliate program to include (among other things) Yahoo Messenger. It's a natural fit with my top site (bigblueball.com), and being free, it's an easy sell. So in this one month with CJ I've earned more than in the past 12 months.
So it seems that the key with CJ, or with any affiliate program for that matter, is to find something that's relevant to your demographic. If you're using it on your site, it better resonate with your members or you won't get great results.

All good advice! Thankyou.
So basically I can see this being useful using their legacy html based links to sell products or things I may mention on my blog.

Well I for one have been to lucky to even make a dime with CJ, CJ is to overrated in my opinion, and it is only relevant to this as they are losing some big advertisers, who are going elsewhere/
I know some that have made good money, but most find them difficult. I know when I switched to another company I started making money doing the exact same thing I couldnt get a penny from with CJ

CJ really has not chanhed much. They have become a bit more corporate, but their basic premise is unchanged. Sign up as a publisher and find programs you think you can promote and try them out. They still have the same shortcomings of poor communication with affiliates (onlu through CJ interface) and incentives for programs to kick out average to poor affiliates to make their program EPC look good. But there is no real downside to going back to them.
Of course, don't forget to check out Kolimbo, ShareASale, Digital River, and the rest.

Yeah I signed up with Digital River as they have a good range of digital items. What really got me was I talked with someone over at CPA empire, and was talking for a good hour about CJ and others and how I would hate to promote for them and then they do a lot of chargebacks on me etc etc
The lady said that CPA didnt do charge backs, so I thought that was a plus from CJ, as you hear people all the time regarding CJ and their chargebacks. I know with CJ that they do a good bit of auditing and chargebacks on their affiliates, which really irks me. Say your doing mortgage leads and you do 5k worth for CJ, then 30 days later CJ will come and say that the buyer said they werent any good. Hmm, seems like with mortgage leads or auto loans they would not do chargebacks on them, due to the fact 30 days is a long time , thats enough time for them to call the applicant 3 times to see if they have a sell or not.
SO I guess i say all of this just to make a point that a lot of marketers don't have much success with CJ.com, thats why a lot of the players will head to azoogle, digital river, hydra media and CPA Empire. Of course others are good as well, just do your research and make sure they pay on time and dont have a lot of complaints in forums like these and others.

CJ is good if you have a niche site and looking for offers not readily available elsewhere. However, if you are looking for more traditional ads such as Ringtones, Dating, Eductation, Entertainment, etc, you would find higher payouts at CPA Affilaite networks such as ours.

Jeremy Palmer and his sites

Some-one with a reasonable mind-set is going to have to explain to me how Jeremy Palmer managed to make a million bucks with the horrible sites that he mentions in the magazine articles.
I visited the sites and I can tell you that they are pathetic at best, who in their right mind would click through those awful sites, and most importantly how would one actually find his sites.
On google it looks like mission impossible.

I current prefer to use CPA ad networks, CPM ad Networks, Contextual Ad Networks and some General Affiliate Networks. So CJ is still alright.

For those of you who use CJ, how many different company ads do you put on your site? I have just one (very relevant) and it gets a good amount of clicks but no conversions. Would it help to put more on or keep it simple...

Never managed to convert with CJ that I make sales with using proprietary aff programs. Their interface is also pretty horrible.
