Hi guys,

I'm totally new here, and just read the Super Affiliate Handbook which has got my mind rolling on a few ideas.

I was wondering if I ran, say, and AdWord campaign to promote my affiliate link. Can I just link directly to the advertiser (using my affiliate link) without having a page in between? I would think that having a personal page in between would increase drop off and people not clicking through to the advertiser's site. (I'm using CJ lingo, where the advertiser is the company whose products I am promoting).

Thank you very much, and I am LOVING this forum!

I also have a CJ account. You must specify a site for a product you're promoting.

So you mean it depends on the advertiser?

I am trying out Citibank credit cards and Audible audio books.

Thanks.

it all depends on the addvertiser some people allow you do direct linking but may not allow you to bid on certain words etc... so ir varies from advertiser to advertiser.... but it can work

Doesn't adwords get mad if you link directly to the Affiliate page, not your own? They made me take down some of my ads because I was linking to a redirect page on my site, which quickly redirected to the affiliate landing page (the money page).

I don't see why adwords would care, if the ad I'm making is about the page they end up on. And the "listed url" in the adwords ad is the same as my redirect page. Maybe i'm doing something wrong. I still need to take the adwords classes to see if i'm missing something.

Adwords only allows one ad per domain. So if the merchant or another affiliate is advertising you won't be able to. So it's best to use a pre-sell landing page on your site. However be aware Adwords is jacking the keyword price up 10Xs for weak affiliate pages that add no value.

Heres a couple blogs I wrote about the problem and some solutions.

Plus you do need to read the merchants TOS. Some won't let you bid on their brand name - others will only allow you to bid under them. Some stupidly even restrict you from bidding on certain keywords so you won't drive their bid prices up.

Happy bidding!

You can have success linking directly to the merchant site, but as 5 star said adwords will only allow 1 ad to show per domain. If you are bidding the highest amount that would be you. But most merchants do not allow you to outbid them if they are advertising with adwords.
