I’ve seen both on this site and on other sites like sitepoint.com some people making a lot of money ($10K+ month) off of affiliate website. I’m still trying to get my brain around how this works.
  • Is this all about creating landing pages that direct people to the product
  • Are you buying most of your traffic through CPC ads on search engines?
  • Or are you slowly getting indexed making money that way? Seems this approach would be hard to capitalize on new niches.
I know you can use some content sites to sell CPA ads but that is not what I’m talking about here. I’m talking about guys who find a niche and go after it with new sites specifically designed to cash in on it.

I really want to give this a try but need some direction on the how to part.

THANKS!

When I was part of the Tigerdirect affiliate program, they mentioned in one of their emails that an affiliate of theirs had made over $10k in a week with an e-mail campaign sent to an opt-in subscriber list from his website with some hot deal on a printer that Tigerdirect was featuring.

Ok, but that makes sense.

Is anyone actually doing this with CPC and fresh landing pages...?

Call me skeptical but I don't trust anyone who is trying to sell me something.

A bit dubious, but I believe anything can be done with the right plan and the right action.

Quit your Day Job - is by an affiliate marketer that built niche sites around specific affiliate programs. Like CJ's Lower Your Bills. He has over 100 websites that are built around niches that at the core has a high quality service or product. The site is designed to showcase the program(s) in that niche. Yes, he made a million.

I am surprised that it bothers you that he wrote a book on how he became a high rated CJ Linkshare Yahoo and Google affiliate AND made a million dollars in commissions as an affiliate. In my mind, if I could develop the skills and strategies that worked that extent - it would mean I KNOW something.

Selling a book about the how gives others the opportunity to do the same thing in their own niche. He didn't publish the book UNTIL he had earned the million AND he had recieved the awards from CJ and other top markets.

Just my opinion but as I've learned - sometimes if you want to know something you have to pay for the privilege OR spend a couple years figuring it out (like I did!)

Find a niche CPA... that hasnt been over marketted, or find a diffferent way to market it. find CHEAP keywords and a GREAT landing page then push cheap traffic to it ADWORDS, YSM, etc..
It's getting harder from my point of view but there is still money to be made

Do you have any examples of what you'd consider a great landing page?

His name is Jeremy, I actually sat near him at Affiliate Summit earlier this year, but had no idea how successful he was at the time.

Find a niche you're either passionate about, or that there's little competition in and create a quality site around either a product or product line.

Develop a niche you can build on using the same site, so you don't have to create multiple sites and can benefit from existing traffic..

An idea on how to find niches.

Yesterday I was looking at Home Improvements catalog and decided to do some price shopping online before ordering from the catalog.

There were a lot of cool products in the catalog, and when searching I realized how easy it would be to get #1 for some of the product keywords.

I also found the product $50 cheaper through one of my own affiliate relationships.. so bought it through my vendor.

Of course, I'll probably make a niche site around this product which will end up paying for it eventually.

Another idea..

Look for new and unqiue vendors in CJ and LinkShare who have very little search engine exposure for their product line. then build quality sites around their product niche fast..

Jeremy is the real deal. Note that he did this with a ton of sites and programs, not just one. It is a lot easier (and safer if one program goes away) to make good money from lots of programs. You would be surprised how many sites the successful affiliates have. They know how to diversify. Once they figure out what to do and start making decent money from a program, they move on to the next one. Some even hire a staff to work for them and do this. I know one affiliate who has two tech guys and about 14 other employees working for him. I bet he makes more than a million a year too.

Also, when you hear about people making a million from anything, they never say what they spent to get that. Did you ever consider that Jeremy might have spent $50K/month or more in advertising and other costs to make that? I have not talked to him about this, but I know of gambling affiliates who used to spend $100K bringing traffic to their sites. If you can make a penny per visitor, why stop at a thousand when you can go for ten thousand? So take all the "gross earnings" with a grain of salt and consider that this is not the same as net profit.

As others have said, start with a niche you are passionate about and know something about. Build a mailing list of people who will trust you. After a while, you can tell them about an offer and they will bite because they have been reading your weekly or monthly newsletters about this subject and figure you know your stuff.

It is not just landing pages. You need content. Real content. Original content. Why will people want to visit your site? You will want a site that can actually attract people just to read what you have. If you can do this, then you will have much better luck with affiliate and CPA programs.

I agree with xbox, that it does take time, patience, testing and determination. I also agree that you need to search around and find your own style. What works for one want work for the other. The key to it all is get a feel for what people want, whats hot and what is the least competitive or that you can jump into without being in a bidding war for the top ad slots in the SE's. Dont get into a bidding war with anyone,,lol.

I'm not sure if you were referring to me, but if so, where did I say his book 'bothers' me?

I come from the old media world and made a fortune (a rather large one) dealing in information brokerage and sales. In fact, I have one info product of my own that essentially retired me before forty, and a new book out with a major publisher (by major, I mean a top five in sales volume, NYC publisher)

For the record, I have zero problems with his business model, since the same model has paid for my great grandkids college (should they one day exist.)

I merely pointed out that he most likely made a large portion of his income from selling information, because he did.

well i know he did make his first mill off of aff marketing. And like even myself, why not take the knowledge you learned from your experiences and write a book or some other info product and sell it to people looking for some answers.

But like I said I have his ebook and it was not that great. But just for the fact that he did write it and may make another million off of the sales is a smart business move. Every great business man will almost always write a book! Why not, free money.lol
