Can anyone give me any insight/feedback into Kontera? - We currently have been using IntelliTXT for our in-text advertising and have been approached by Kontrera to switch to them.

Thanks

The secret answer is: neither.

I was with Kontera. Then I switched to Vibrant because they paid more. Then, Kontera renegotiated with me and now I am back with them because they pay better.

Use them both -- make them bid for your ad space.

We tested both. IntelliTXT paid far more for us and their taregeting was WAY better. (We had things like pajama ads on a tech site - it was bad.) Kontera pays per PAGE LOAD (if the page loads with at least one link, that's considered an impression), and InteliTXT pays per MOUSE OVER (ad must be expanded in order to count as an impression). We still made much more with InteliTXT, though.

I would test both and see which one works best for your sites. InteliTXT raised their CPM rate a couple of different times during negotiations - which resulted in a nearly $5 CPM increase. They gave it up much easier than I thought they would.

HTH!

I don't like Kontera a lot, but it's easier to get accepted in :P IntelliTXT (from what I heard) has a better CPM rate and has better advertisements which have video embedded in some of them, probably good for conversion and CTR - they're hard to get in though..

So am I right in assuming that both Kontera and IntelliTXT are CPM based programs? I'm interested in possibly giving one of them a go but I was under the impression that they were CPC programs?

Kontera’s proprietary technology serves the most relevant In-Text keyword advertising, and therefore generates higher CTR’s than most other contextual advertising vehicles, translating into more revenue for you.

We just started to offer in-line text and contextual advertising. Our in-line product is similar to Kontera's and Intellitext's but pays on a high PPC basis. It takes up no space so it should be compatible with other ad programs like Google's adsense. Our contextual product is a stand alone that actually automatically replaces Adsense public service ads! All of our ad products can be branded to your site in order to feature 'ads by yoursite.com' . Why not keep the advertisers (and most of the money) for yourself?

We also offer search engine advertising displayed at some of our private branded search engines like John Edwards Quest at his search site dedicated to his Presidential Quest. There, you can see how our in-line Thundertext works branded to our parent company, Niagara Media. What can we brand and revshare for you?

Thanks,
Niagara Media Staff

I use Kontera and if this was 1920, I'd consider it big money. You'd need big traffic to see anything viable from it.

For your own benefit, Kontera can't be used with Vibrant or any other in-text ad provider; you actually interfere with the algorithm's effectiveness by mixing two in-text sources together, thereby compromising your revenues and quality of ads.
