Another tip could be, if you are putting ads on sites like game sites etc.. Place an image on the left of the ad so it actually attracts visitors to the ad and gets their interest in clicking it.

Is that allowed by Adsense's ToS? I thought you couldn't purposely attract attention to the ads like that.

It's usually okay, but it's best to put a border between the image and the ads.
