How do you guys came up with great ideas for writing articles?

Okay. I am just confused because I am asking myself why can't I make my own articles. I just want to know how? Have you researched first before writing or what?

Some of my friends are writing articles for companies. Basically the companies tell them the keywords the articles has to be based on and then they have to write it up.

First read, then read more, then read until your eyes bleed. Read everything about the subject you are going to write about before you write anything.

Of course, you have to research first, unless you have an extremely unique idea that you, yourself only know about.

I research my keywords or my clients keywords and find articles that work. I usually base my articles on those, but come up with a different point of view and add ideas. If you can find out what your market reads, then that's where you begin. Its easy to find out what your best prospects read - just ask them...

write articles about something that you are passionate about or have an extensive knowledge.

It depends on if I'm working from scratch or not. If I have keywords to work with then I generally run through the Who/What/Why/How/When to generate article ideas.

If I'm starting from scratch, I think about who the article is targeting and come up with some questions they might ask. I'm usually able to extract some articles from this process.

I do agree that you should read and do research. I also get a lot of ideas from reading what other people have to say about the subject.

Do some research. Look into article directories, google news and wikipedia to look for material about a topic.

For a good article, a good research really matters. No matter, how much time it takes, for writing good article, you need to do research.

I am not a professional wirter, but I like to record anything that I found interesting.

So I guess it is a great way to have plenty of ideas when u want to write by just looking at the notes or so that u have recorded!

What I do is I take the topic I want to write about and then make a list of all the possible articles that can be written about it.

For example, say I wanted to write about coming up with writing ideas. Then my list might look like:

Top 20 Brainstorming Techniques
Transforming an Idea into a Top-Notch Article
100 Sources for Great Ideas
etc.

So you're not a writer, and that's a real problem as there are many good writers making websites, and they will make websites much more easily than you do.

I'm making some research when I'm writing on a subject that I'm not familiar with, but most often, I stick to what I know best, and I always have many things to say.

I disagree. Anyone can become a good writer. It just comes more easily to some. But, with practice, anyone can learn how to captivate an audience.

Plus, he or she never said they weren't a writer. Everyone gets writer's block sometimes.

I find that one good way of generating new ideas for articles is to participate in forums like this. You can learn a lot. And then when you've amassed a bit of knowledge you can use it to answer other people's questions.

If you just combine a few of your own replies on a subject, you'll have easily enough for an article. If you rewrite it substantially so that it's unique content, then you can post that to an article directory and get further SEO benefit.

Most of my ideas for articles are based on threads and posts in forums just like this one, or from articles in industry related magazines. Simply put your personal spin on the topic.
