Yeah, it's true, quality does come with a price. I would say the chances of a $1 article that is actually readable and not duplicate content are pretty much zero though.

A price per word doesn't seem appropriate. I'm a french journalist, the benchmark here is an article of 25 lines of 60 characters. It's worth $25 to $150 depending on the subject, your knowledge of it, etc...

Ask to preview the work then decide for yourself if the article is worth your money. If you like it, make an offer. Don't agree to buy anything until you see it.

I dont think so.. If you need a quality article, if your plans are big for a good website, then you need to pool money.

I would even go as far as to say that $0.10/word is too expensive. Check out some of the freelance sites, to get an idea of what quality writers charge. I would say that $10-$20 per 500 word article or blog post would be a fair price.

Good articles aren't cheap. Once we paid for someone to write for us who charged very little and the articles were so bad. They didn't make sense and later we found out that the person who had been writing them was ripping them off from other people.

uhm...through personal experience (from the buyer point of view) you shouldn't look for people selling articles on price/words base. you should purchase it by # of articles and place a minimum word count on the articles. the reason is because the article writers can just write a bunch of tied in BS (i.e. adding examples to their point, etc.) and make maximum profit off their sale.

Depending on the content to be written if the topic is so hard, then it take time to write quality content!

Honestly, this is the first time I heard someone charges as high as that per word! Yes, I know that you really should be after quality and that there are many who are willing to write a full article for only $1 but ends up having worthless write ups, but $0.50 per word, that is totally unreasonable in my opinion. Especially now that a lot of people are exploring ways to earn online. I mean come on, I'm sure there are even much better writers than him with much experience and doesn't charge like that.

Believe it nor, there are actually companies that will pay 70 cents per word to writers. However you've got to be beyond just average. Learn MLA, AP and other writing styles and learn how to write things like textbooks (not just ebooks or articles for websites). You need to be versatile and well experienced in writing to get that kind of pay, though. And chances are, you won't find those kind of jobs on forums.

That's the most expensive service that I've seen. I think based on current rate, you should be able to get decent quality articles at about 0.02 cents/word

If the contents and articles are very good then it is a great price. Even cheap for that one.

These are written by some people who have to churn out 20 articles of 500 words each day. Just think about the quality of those poor articles. However, they will be copyscape pass but besides that you would not find anything interesting in them.
