I am new at webmaster talk forum, but me and my team has been writing for some years now. We specialize in almost all niche.

These days i am having prolems in finding new clients. I am a part of Digital point, and a few other forums. But i am looking for clients who are interested in quality and not quantity.

Can any one guide me.
Thank you in advance

Have you tried Helium? You can make a few cents per day off a few 100 articles you post there, but you also get offers from site owners looking for content - plus they have a marketplace to sell such stuff.

Surely content-production is very valuable and the costs and work involved in monetizing content is so little that there's not much excuse for selling content off to others - why not just use it yourself and get paid for the ad revenue it generates rather than for the words.

Register on freelance sites as a programmer, make nice profile depicting all your skills. You will find plenty of projects on writing. Reliable for payments as it works thru escrow accounts.

Maybe you should check your grammar and writing style if you want clients that need copy in English (or American at worst)

On the other hand, I suspect that in both India and China, local language network presence and strength must have already created a demand for plenty of content production in mandarin, hindi, gujurati and urdu.

I am actually interested in getting into any such market in China, since any consumer meltdown in the UK/USA will probably drive down the cost of advertising as the number of purchases per head fall and fall and fall. English language has been okay for selling outside UK/USA until now, but the development of other technological blocks is so advanced now, coupled with a financial collapse on this side of Russia, that the huge markets in those regions demand that we sell to them in their own languages.

I've actually started learning chinese. But to be honest it was so I could look up stuff in chinese on youku, where there are lots of good free things to watch, but unfortunately in that universe it's probably more advisable to search in chinese script (even without a keyboard, you can always copy-paste).

And of course, some of our websites are already showing ads in chinese script, japanese, arabic, hebrew, russian, and many languages using roman script. Good old google puts those ads on the pages themselves, if they find that your visitors are chinese. What great chaps they are at google.

Paypal is also a wonderful thing. You can find buyers anywhere in the world and take their money in a safe way, making it possible to exploit all opportunities in the international ad market without additional stress over dealing with the payments.

On the topic of paid writing, do you know about.com guarantee newly-chosen (anyone can apply and be tested) writers something like 750 dollars a month for their first year? They hardly require any volume per month, so it's a good deal. I have toyed with the idea of trying out for one a number of times, but the only topics available are either too competitive or too boring.

Last edited by witnesstheday; 06-15-2008 at 10:02 AM.. Reason: because I originally wrote "this side of the Russia", and I'm not sure how earlier versions of the sentence left that anomaly

Somehow I've never found good paying jobs at the freelance job sites like GAF, craiglist or Elance. There are too many people competing for jobs at very low prices. Maybe I'm out of luck, has anyone found a good paying job from any of these sites ?

Yes, I have, but they haven't been run-of-the-mill copywriting jobs, more copywriting + management + web work +....

a lot of start-ups are looking for jacks and jills of all trades...I sorta positioned myself as a copy and web swiss army knife for new companies. I'm no good at hacking away serious weeds, but I'm indispensable for day-to-day quick cuts.

Good luck!

I actually get this problem backwards, haha. I want to do website design, and I end up with copywriting jobs! (I have pretty good grammar, but it always feels like I'm writing an essay or something) I tried out Getafreelancer.com (is that correct? If not, google it. It's a boring gray site) and got a pretty good response, but they have this weird quip about contact information and thier personal message system is extremely confusing.

Have you tried contacting clients directly. Yeah, it's a fine line between spamming and offering your services but I'm sure if you contact enough SEO firms you'll find one willing to hire you.

Also Freelance Writing Gigs is job listing site for freelance writers. Maybe have a look around there.

I certainly hope that you have a website/blog where people can go to see examples of your work because you will get that question a lot. Additionally if you do have a website/blog you should spend time building up an audience for it because the majority of freelance writers I know state that the bulk of their jobs come via referrals.

Good luck with your business.

What and when they pay is pretty well hidden, so clearly they must not have good payments, else this would be a selling point.

You should not write in English yet. I can't imagine any "client" ever choosing you unless they were interested in poorly constructed sentences and an abortion of the English language.

How about Craigslist? Has anyone had any luck finding clients there?
