This might seem noobish, but does anybody have any tips on getting more traffic/registered users to my forums?

needmoney - As I said in the other post, there are a variety of ways to generate content for a forum. Some of them include the following:

1. Hold a contest (like this forum is)
2. Have some great content that you offer as a bonus for joining and posting
3. Get members to earn points or something from referrals
4. Pay posters

Any one of those should get you off to a good start.

Also rmbr that this type of stuff takes time and patience, i dont know of any ways to get a bunch of active members instantly, it would be cool, but i dont think exist. So be diligent. Affiliates are also another good way

I would also say to make deals with other sites that use your same site topic but don't have a forum. Post on email groups, contact ezines and print magazines. Give people a reason to come to your site because something they are missing is there.

I completely agree with nickohrn. People love bux the most. So offer some free stuff, free money.

If you want to get traffic with an empty purse, you will have to start from scratch, put good content, invite people manually.

I Agree with Nickorhn and Cicero -- Give away free stuff, free money, hold a contest, do whatever it takes.

yes, like Cicero suggested, put some great content and ensure that the forum postings provide valuable information and reflects on the shared experience of all that users therein.

Forums are often the breeding grounds for other forums. The value you contribute here in this forum, for instance, can steadily bring traffic to your own forum.

All the best
