Help needed!

Hi, I’m a newly single mother who stays at home looking after my son. I have been writing for a long-long time but never thought to do something serious with it. I would like to try freelance copywriting, but don't know the first thing about it. How can I get started? Can anyone help me? I love writing and I could really-really use the extra cash- raising a young child alone really hits the wallet pocket. I appreciate any replies, and hope that I may be able to help in return sometime soon. Thank you very much.

Have you thought about blogging to build up your reputation (and improve your writing skills)? I'd recommend two sites for that for you: Copyblogger and Problogger.

I know that's not exactly the direction you may be looking to take, but I speak from experience when I say that blogging can get you places.

Yes, tamar is right. Trying out with blogging to show your writing skills would be great

You may setup your portfolio from there and start freelancing as a writer

I agree with Tamar, blogging can be pretty fun and there can be money made while doing it.

I've written books, and in magazines, and I tell you... I feel like I have more freedom and joy from writing in my blog than any of the others.

Hi, it’s very good that you want to try for freelance copywriting. Now days the market for copywriters is vast and is expanding all the time, thanks mainly to the Internet where company information and marketing has to be up-to-date as soon as news breaks or a new product line is released. I know an online resource called <removed> & the link for site is < removed > where you can get started easily. You can follow the adventures of a new freelance copywriter, and she also shares tips and tricks. Hope this will help you.

Once you have built up some reputation and/or written some good sample articles you should definitely check out the freelance sites. There is alot of information in the WAHM forums about copywriting. Try some sites that ask you to post articles you've written for free so you can show off your work. I've had a good deal of writing jobs I've gotten just off of forums like this. Good Luck!!
