Would you integrate a news ticker to your site?

Well I got this question... would you integrate a news ticker (image) to your site about 500x20px thingy that would rotate latest headlines?

If it wasn't displaying news on my own network, and was DHTML based (thus not introducing much content of value for SEO), I don't see any reason to intentionally lead users away from my site with a potentially uncool news thingie.

I definitely pull news from my own sites though and display the latest headlines on my network.

So.. potentially a neat little widget.

It depends. I wouldn't want to detract visitors from a sales type website but I do use a RSS feed on my investing membership site to use the credability of big names from other fortune 500 companies.

I don't think I'd add a news ticker to my site. I add news to my site as it relates to our niche and do not need a ticker at this point.
