I think you're missing the point, I don't care if my stuff is scraped. Google has scraped without my permision, I don't care if they have an explanation of how not to get my page cached.

It's kinda like a burgerlar saying if you don't want to have your stuff taken put out a sign.

Why should I? It's my data.

But like I said, I couldn't give a toss and only arguing the point because it always winds me up when people say it's black and white, there is nothing black and white about the law.

Go ask OJ.

Well, you can prevent Google from indexing your site thus not caching anything.

As for the law, "Thou shall not kill" is pretty black or white IMO

and I am sure a scraper will give you way to opt out if you take it. My point is, if it's your info you shouldn't have to protect it as the copyright law should protect it.

My point which I may not be communicating well is that there is no difference to Google taking your data and reproducing it for it's own benefit and the scraper who operates from his bedroom.

It doesn't matter who does it, or what they put in the website so that they don't take it. They still take it. It's the taking that is the issue here, not who does it.

Fredto, I don't live by the Mosaic law. I believe it's right to kill in certain situations, so I don't really see that as black and white. And if I remember correctly Moses was off slaughtering women and children after he gave us that gem, but I don't wanna get into religion here, noooooooooooooooo.

In my opinion, nothing is black and white. Over simplification of these issues benefit those who can afford the lawyers. In reality it's as complex as a snowflake.

I agree that taking without permission is prohibited, no matter who's doing it.

And I wasen't referring specifically to the law from the bible, it was just an example. And killing in certain situations, yes, I agree to, only when there's really no other choice.

My posts regarding scraping (and my possible use of it) would only be specific to content I have permission to use or, in the case of images, free stock/public domain.
