What do you think is better? to create a different section for articles or create another category in the forum for them?

An articles database is always better than just using a forum.

I have tried everything and no matter how hard I tried the articles always got buried in a mountain of other content. I ended up launching a completely different site with a different domain and put all of the articles there. Now the articles are getting thousands of reads compared to a few hundred and most of the traffic is still from the forums and all of the writing is from the members. The members just simply know where to go to read articles and where to go when they want to chat on the forum.

That's a very good idea actually! I own the .com and .net of my site, and the .net is unused. Maybe I could use that to write articles .

It depends on your objectives. My Spanish marketing articles are sent weekly to our newsletter subscribers. Plus all articles appear on the home page and under the corresponding category. Sales strategies, marketing strategies, customer service strategies, etc.

All neatly organized for fast reading. Plus in each article i have a Related Article section for those who want to read more about the subject.

good idea. I think that is very well stated. I don't think a different domain is always necessaary, but definitely a different section, because on a forum, it could get buried very easily.
