One of the best eBooks I've read is Jeremy Warner's Super Affiliate Marketing Handbook, and I'll tell you why. Not only is it short and informative, but it is broken up into distinct sections that make it easy to skip around.
If I want to drudge through a novel, I'll read fiction. If I want information, let me know where to find it so I can do it immediately.
Another tip: Make your eBooks printer friendly. You may not realize this, but a lot of people don't like to read a ton of text on a screen. It hurts our eyes. Make sure the pages are well laid out and printable. Of course, then comes the issue of whether to use serif or sans serif fonts, but that's a different story altogether.
