The majority of distros will support what you want to do. Ubuntu has a very good package manager and you can get practically every type of software under the sun.

Knoppix is also great. It is a Live CD and you don't have to install it but if you need to make customizations/changes, then it will be difficult for a beginner to do it. Otherwise, all big Linux distros have the apps you need - or most of them.
