hi there i am looking for a simple tool for defragging memory and that all i wont it to do as i dont use a pagefile got plenty of ram so dont need to page. but every bit software i come across trys to free up memory as well and i dont wont that. i use windows xp pro sp2 32bit.

Defragging memory, may I ask what the point in that is? Your memory (RAM) is wiped clean every time you power down your computer.

lol thre is a big point to that, as you still get spaces in the memory so it sted of restarting every time i wont to do some thing memory demading like playing games you can have your memory defraged. basicly having tools like this runnying in the backgrond will help memory run faster plus even when u restart your pc memory can be all over the place from the start.

but my problem is i use to use a tool that frees up memory and defrags it, but i got a lot more ram now so truned pagefile off so just wont a program that defrags only.

so if you dont use any thing like this then i would try it out as you will be suprised how much better your pc will run.

But surely these tools are going to take up memory aswell. Wouldn't it be easiler to tweak your memory settings in the BIOS and your OS so you don't need such a program?

Um, no.

If your system is setup ok there is no need to go about defragmenting memory, especially during hi-demand situations like playing games. RAM is volatile, so it is wiped clean when there is no power going to it so memory will not be "all over the place" unless you are starting up several, and there would have to be a lot of them, programs a start time.

All a defragmenter would do is tie up processor time and memory, if anything it will hinder performance.

trust me having a program like this can give you way better performance and i do know that ram is wiped clean when restarted im not a noob it just quicker to to derfrag it. saying it will tie up processor time and memory is not right realy as it only takes about 3-6secs to do and normaly only takes about 2,000 k of memory and no cpu when its idling. maybe on low performance pc it will probaly take alot more cpu and ram witch will not be any good for. but it defently bost my pc.

any way found some thing now just testing it out if i like it i will bye it for any one that wonts to try its called FAST Defrag Professional and can be found her

In a word...wow. Taylor, Jamie told you exactly what you needed to know: defragging RAM is a completely pointless exercise, contrary to what you may think.

If you're experiencing issues with slowdown, then you likely have a CPU or other resource leak somewhere because you've misconfigured something.

I personally haven't used one in a very long time.
But even my laptops carry a min of 2 gig ram and non of my systems are general use. (Each is set up according to predominate use)
