I use avast for the last 3 years, and I'm really satisfied, so far it is the best anti-virus I ever used.
you should use also use ads cleaner, I'm very happy with spybot.
By all independent test Kaspersky always come above all others. I do not use Kaspersky but F-secure Workstation and i think that with F-secure i got more because F-secure use triple engine scanning system including signature files from Kaspersky and Lavasoft regarding Spy protection.
I've seena number of different Internet security and antivirus programs on people's PC's. But the one I've always stuck with from the day I started using my own computer is Norton. I know some people don't tend to use it, largely because it slows down your system resources tremendously. With previous versions that was true however the 2007 version has been working like a charm since I've been using it.
I haven't generally used other programs because they have an ill-conceived design, become annoying or don't clean out the computer as they should. Bear in mind I'm not including spyware removers because that is really in a category of its own. In which case I would go with spysweeper as it tends to get rid of all the rubbish... saying that I don't have it currently installed on my vista installation
Kaspersky is the best AV and Zone Alarm is the best firewall, they are not free but you can get a free one year license for Kaspersky. Since last year you cant install both programs on the same PC, because Kaspersky has developed a crappy firewall and Zone Alarm one crappy AV.
I am using Avast which is free.So far I haven't had any problems with this anti virus. It automatically updates it's database quite frequently and has stopped numerous trojans from invading my system.
I hate Norton! I haven't tried either of them, because right now I am using a Mac that doesn't require virus protection, but I have heard that AVG and Avast are much better than Norton, plus they are free.
used norton long time ago.. garbage.. just a commercial gimmick...
rule...
Kaspersky will find what Norton didn't...
got in many cases then norton was quiet, but pc was infected by viruses...
ofcorse sometimes any anti-virus won't find some specific targered virus which was "placed" on your pc.. then.. if you a good in it.. you will find it and manually deleted...
