I'd say... Linux?
Try rip (recovery is possible) http://www.tux.org/pub/people/kent-r...looplinux/rip/
it's small, and I always suceeded to make it boot any computer I needed access too.
No need for the X version (X being the graphical interface), the regular one is ok.
Once you are logged on the shell (the black screen with a cursor), try:
for fdisk'ing a ide disk.
hda= primary master
hdb= primary slave
hdc= secondary master
etc etc etc...
If you have serial ata, replace hda with sda (s like scsi, or serial)
and follow the on-screen instructions to repartition your disk.
I have an 80 Go ide disk on my current workstation, here is what I have:
Code:
cfdisk 2.12r
Disk Drive: /dev/hda
Size: 80060424192 bytes, 80.0 GB
Heads: 255 Sectors per Track: 63 Cylinders: 9733
Name Flags Part Type FS Type [Label] Size (MB)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
hda1 Primary Linux swap / Solaris 945.91
hda3 Primary Linux ReiserFS 30507.57
hda2 Primary W95 FAT32 (LBA) 48603.18
[Bootable] [ Delete ] [ Help ] [Maximize] [ Print ]
[ Quit ] [ Type ] [ Units ] [ Write ]
Once partitionning is done, format your partition (if you want to) by using
Code:
mkdosfs -F 32 /dev/hdax
X being the partition number, as shoved in cfdik.
You should not have problem further more, but answer this post or pm me if you need more assistance.
And by the way, if you dislike vista that much, give a try to linux.
You could be surprised...
