Did you turn off the automatic restart function using the following method?
Right-click on My Computer, click Properties, click the Advanced tab. Under “Startup & Recovery,” click Settings. Under “System Failure,” uncheck the box in front of “Automatically restart.”
If not then give that a try.
Another major cause of this problem is Roxio CD Creator software or Direct CD Software.
If you do have this software then follow the following steps from the Microsoft websites
1.Remove the Easy CD Creator software.2.Click Start, click Run, type Regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.3.Locate the following registry key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Se curity
4.Remove the Etetnt.mpd file that has a revision date of 1997.5.Locate the following registry key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Se rvices
6.Remove the following files: •Cdr4vsd•Cdralw2k•Cdr4_2k•Cdudf
Hope this is of assistance
