I used to get them all the time. I kept marking them as spam.

If you are really concerned report them to proper authorities.

PayPal would probably like to get their hands on the IP addresses for investigations. IFCC and FBI might want them too.(like they are much help)

Also, you might look up the what city the IP addresses are associated with and report that incident to that city's district attorney. Spam like keeps happening becuase the spammers are never caught. Once they get caught they pay huge fines and or recieve prison time.

One guy got over $12 billion in fines. He's going to be broke for life. That's what you get for spamming.

Forward it to spoof@paypal.com (more info).

I've got a couple of them. They can look extremely authenticate, I can see how some people are fooled.

Dan I can't tell you if the ones I'm getting are new since I never open and look at them. The ones to me are pretty obviously not real since they only end up in accounts I have that aren't connected to paypal. For some reason the account where I do have paypal never gets the email.

Chris I know what you mean. The few times I have opened one they do look very real. It's easy to see how someone would be fooled. Most people aren't going to be as savvy as most of us here to look to see where the link might be going before clicking.

When people fall for things like the Nigerian scam I don't have much sympathy for them, but some of the phishing attacks it's easy to see how people get fooled.

Some of these so called "Phishers" are horrible at doing what they enjoy. I get emails in my old account still with Yahoo, and they have typo's in the subject title, and one email I received was from "paypal@yahoo.com"

How ignorant can they get?

im now fearing the fact i was only slightly savvy could be the reason i have ben having troble lol. i clickd the link looked thought **** and shut it down before it loaded... i seem to be infected with really anouying something i thought i got rid of it but hey...

anyone know what it is and how to get rid of it. i was getting so (even though the homepage is wt [is that sad?] it comes up with a tacky website saying im infectd download this software to fix... yea right.)
and every now and then a alert pops up (like a javascript alert not a internet window) with a message basically saying im infected blah balh click here to download.
i have scanned and cleaned with McAfee (dont say it I know..) ad-aware, avg, also cleaned out this registry mechanic. and it appears to be gone, says its deletd cleaned and clear... but about once a day i get avg going i found it... "heal" and delete says all clean blah blah and agian it find another.... jeeze i wish i didnt know how to use a computer sometimes... then i could just pay a engineer 100's to fix it for me...

[yea i know you COULD hear it if i for some reason felt the need to podcast my sarcasum... hey i just might do that now... anyone know how to make those talking emoticons? i could be like "it a virus NOOOOOO STOp the download!!!" hehe]

i received such messages yesterday. :-(
You've added an additional email address to your PayPal account.
If you don.t agree with this email <link removed> and if you need assistance with your account,
please <link removed> to login to your account.

To make sure you can use your PayPal account the next time you make a purchase,
all you need to do is confirm or not your email address.
If your email program has problems with hypertext links,
you may also confirm your email address by logging in to your account.

I get loads of these and for banks I don't have accounts with, most of them come fom russia or from trojans on other people's pc's - thats why the scammers don't get caught - all you can do is ignore them or report them to you bank, but they won't go away quickly I'm afraid
