What was the first browser to come with tabs?

I just all of a sudden started wondering what browser was the first to add tabs. Now pretty much every major browsers latest version comes with them. Was it simply an add on to IE or something?

I'm not really sure but if I had to guess it would be Firefox.

Opera was the first browser with tabs i think.

i think basically opera proballt started it firfox went thats a great idea, about a month after then releded there and microsoft and 3 years later caught on and made msn tool bar have it, and then finally put it in IE7 lol

just a guess and i bet i was (almost) right!

Opera was the first one. I'm 99,99% sertain of that. The next one was Max-thingy browser, which is just IE with another GUI. After that, I don't know exactly. Probably some of the other IE-engine GUI browsers, or netscape. Then the mozilla-suit and then Firefox. IE7 comes after that.

Personally I hate the tabs. I don't know why I just do. I also HATE IE-7 i don't like the look of it and i don't like the way it's set up. i uninstalled it and went back to my old IE-6.

I guess i don't like change that much - but at the same time I am always open to new things - these just do not appeal to me. And while I am on the subject I HATE the WINDOWS XP Style. I use the classic version because it makes more sense to me. (also don't like the blue the xp style uses!)

Not really but yeah I guess I have issues with microsoft - who doesn't? But I do think that WINDOWS is the best operating system out there.

I first saw tabs in Opera. Interesting wikipedia link..thanks for that. Never heard of InternetWorks browser either.

I have used Maxthon (MyIE, MyIE2) for a long time. Runs much quicker than IE with much less resources.
