Siemens has apparently broken the network speed record by transmitting 107Gbps over a fibre link. "Siemens said in a statement it had processed data using exclusively electrical means at 107 Gbps - roughly two full DVDs per second - and sent it over a single optical fibre channel in a 161km US network, the first time outside a laboratory. what the miss out is that it prob cost like £10 per meter of cable or somin lol... so it would work out (just to get the cable form a box right in front of your house like £200 of cable and bits to get it to ur pc lol...

and if say 2GB is £20ish a month image how much that would be...

a 2GB connection if lucky gets onlu 350KB/s if you luck so...

if my calculations are correct (ive always wanted to say that...)

2048kb = 2GB and if 2GB connection gets about 350KB on adverage.

so u get a 5.8514286th of what u r told.

so if u got a connection (and some how u had a pc which could process this and a card that workd as faster etc etc...)

112197632KB = 107GB

112197632 / 5.8514286 = 19175399.9KB/s

19175399.9KB/s being your actual download speed.

19175399.9KB/s = 18.287086391448973GB/s

so ur max download would ONLY be 18.3GB/s...

i very much doubt that that would be the reality u might get 19GB/s lmao

i jsut did a whole load of pointless calculations... o well...

Actually, from what it says they sent it over a single "Fiber optical channel" which sounds like it could work on the current network infrastructure.

Although for those in areas without fiber it could be a hitch.

As far as getting what you pay for I pay for a 1.5mbs connect and I get that personally.

I get adsl two this week I can't wait that will be good enough for me
