I think they all suck.
Then again, I have a dedicated box and use SmarterMail. The UI is reasonably simple to figure out, it actually nails most spam, and it can be configured pretty easily to take care of false positives.

Outlook SUCKS because it is MS - loaded with bugs and holes just like the rest of their products. You are forced to do things MS's way and have few options for doing anything YOUR way. I HATE Outlook and Outlook Express. I am forced to use Outlook at work, but I wouldn't if I didn't have to.
I have Gmail, I also have Yahoo, I think I prefer Gmail to Yahoo for some things. My mail client on my home pc is Incredimail.. it has it's own limitations, but then I don't use any mail program as an organizer.

I love gmail.
Outlook is pretty crazy, though. It likes to use Word for html rendering. That alone is like peeing in the gas tank.

I like the way gmail lists emails as though they were a forum thread.
I wouldn't say Outlook sucks because it's MS. I'd say it sucks because it's just an awful program. Then again I dislike pretty much all email clients. I have Opera's built in one enable, but rarely use it.

Ladynred is right, I am not a fan of MS. When I learn linux or can afford an Apple, I will go that route. I personally use Incredimail for my pop3 and stmp server account. It has a lot of fancy stuff I don't use all the time, but it can be fun, and I never have a problem with it. Oh , yeah , I have a bunch of yahoo's and gmail's too, they are good too.

I think the answer is simple: It's made by Microsoft.

I have never really been a fan of MS's Outlook however I will say that I do find some of the features of Outlook 2003 quite useful. It just seems easier at times to use than switching between several different web apps (IE: Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Notebook, etc.)
Point: Outlook is just too much for the average user.
However I find myself using Google's services more than anything else primarily because I can access them from anywhere, they are located off of my computer (Google's servers), and because of the Auto-Save features. Because of these features, I choose Google over everything just because of simplicity and with iGoogle, I can see everything all at once from anywhere I can get an internet connection. (On a side note, I don't care so much for Gmail's Tagging features.)
Point: Google has all the most used features in Outlook 2003 in a web based form.
I will make a note about Yahoo's email. I actually am a big fan of Y! email because it reminds me so much of a true 2.0 web application. I feel as though I am on my regular desktop environment, however it is so chocked full of ads, I really don't care to use it so much (even in the footer of sent emails). That is why I choose Gmail over Y! Email in regard to use of free services.
Point: Yahoo Email and Gmail are comparable to each other in many ways, however it really is chocked up to your preferences in the web GUI and Ad tolerance =]
Those are my thoughts.

I'm using Outlook 2002 every since I can remember (well, ever since 2002 I guess). I like it because I can set it up to download email from all my domain accounts as well as my Yahoo account all in one place. And I can set up filter rules to sort my email.
I'm thinking that I should switch to gmail.
Can I set up gmail to retrieve my email from yahoo or other domain accounts? Or is gmail just for gmail?
Now people are saying that I should get an email client that is capable of "https". Is Outlook 2002 capable of this?
What free email client do you recommend where I can retrieve email from my various accounts into one place as well as be "https" compatible. As well as has as sorting filter rules where I can write rules to sort my email into folders automatically based on certain conditions.

Outlook is a software and not a email provider. But still, its sucks indeed.
I love Gmail and use Thunderbird with it If I'm mobile, I use Gmail APP.
With that said, Gmail by far is the best email service, according to me.
EDIT:
@artcoder: Gmail now has the feature of pulling your messages via POP3 from other providers. So you can very well pull any email of yours.
Also, for those who like Gmail's threaded conversations, the same is possible in Thunderbird too.

We use something called groupwise at my workplace. I know everyone hates microsoft.. or apple, and say that Ms is a monopoly keeping for better browsers to surface. But I love windows XP, I have problems and if something better came along AND was compatible with every program i've used, I might switch, but me and Xp and FireFox are a threesome. A wild threesome.

I was so happy to get rid of Outlook and switched to just brower based email. No headaches when upgrading/changing computers, especially since I have a variety of email addresses for different sites, etc.

sheeze...all this anti-Microsoft talk...what's up with that, anyway? I love my Microsoft software, including Outlook. It has great organization ability and so many features I've barely scratched the surface of them all, but I'm using Office Outlook, not Express any more.
Gmail is great, though. I use that, as well and really like it. Dropped yahoo like a hot potato because within a month of setting up an address I'm getting hundreds of spam's in spite of not even using it for anything other than a few newsletters or some such thing.
