You have to give Vista time before knowing how good or bad it may be. All new software has bugs. And an OS is some pretty big software. I'm not a big rah rah Microsoft person at all. I can list plenty of things I don't like about their products and their business practices, but I don't think it's fair to judge a peice of software that's not even completely available for public consumption yet.
I think it was Jim Allchin who mentioned there might not be a need for antivirus in Vista.
In a few months I may be with in complaining about Vista not being secure, but I think you have to give Microsoft a little time before making judgements about it. It's normal for any new software to be buggy.
