FlashFXP is the best. I have used many FTP software like CuteFTP but still, FLashFXP rocks!

The best yet the one available free of cost is Filezilla. It is very simple to operate. I have been using it without any problem at all. Go-Get-It

I am using flashFxp from few years now and quite satisfied.

I would recommend Core FTP software. It is really easy to be used and installed as well.

FileZilla is my favorite free one.
FireFTP extension for FireFox is a good one too.
Once used to use ws_ftp

I have used many but I think smartftp is.

I have tried WS_FTP PRO, Smartftp, Ipswitch but always come back CuteFTP pro!
Never had any issue except some delay in build which will support Vista too.
Now is everything ok as it suppose to be.
CHMOD file with 2 clicks is what i like most.

I used Cute FTP but find FileZilla better.

Smart FTp is the one to look for !

Smartftp and cuteftp are popular among ftp softwares. The cuteftp has more upload speed compared to smartftp.

I'm going along with the other FireFTP users. If you want something that's simple
(and you're a Firefox user) this extension does the job nicely.
