I use the Windows firewall and the firewall on my router.

I also use NOD32 for anti-virus after a friend of mine recommended it.

I don't tend to use security software. I know enough to lock down and secure my machines without the use of nannyware. I run the odd spyware & virus scan, but never really comes up with anything.

And yes, I use IE

I use Norton Internet Secuity & Systemworks.. it has done me proud in the past, people may not like but i sure do, it's features, functions.. the look, the feel.. the way it makes you in charge..

i have to admit, to get rid of trojans i do like to use Trojan Guarder Gold.. anybody heard of it? - well recommended, the price is a bit iffy for it, but it sure can find a lot of stuff on your pc, windows defender (beta) is very good as well, that has a super look to it...

I do use AntiVir for my anti-virus. I could probably go without using anything at all (got NAT firewall, after all), but I prefer to be safe then sorry. I run spyware scans once and a while, too.

I've been using this install of Windows for about 8 months now and haven't had any malware detected. Smart browsing beats "nannyware" (I like that phrase ) any day.

Boxed off sweetly (i configured it so I know 100% whats going on, unlike some purchased software thats doing its own thing at the same time).

Which scares me as these chaps sell solutions yet they dont give you the code so can you state 100% your happy with it and that it does nothing other than it says on the box.

I would not be not without looking at code (which ok I have not done with iptables nor clamscan, but these are open source and will have been scrutinised and patched as required by far brighter pesons than me).

Oh and did I mention it cost me naff all.

I think windows is making progeress these days with its own firewall and what have you, but IE needs to be patched to prevent malicious downloads and instalations of all sorts of nasty things before I would be happy with it.

And has IE7 only bgeen given a face lift leaving all its issues intact? I heard they done nothing with it except make it look better and give it tabbed browsing.

avg in combination with zonealarm

and spyware s&d and adaware for spyware

i use kaspersky because it's the only antivirus i really know.. i'm not familar with the rest of them.
