Options:
1. Antivirus program (bit defender is about the best)
2. Don't use a computer
3. Don't turn it on.

Why would you want to steal software when there are better ones that are genuinely free??

I suggest using deepfreeze . It helps you delete those unwanted files on your computer in just one reset .

As I keep mentioning, good computer hygiene is much more important then an antivirus. Just learn AND USE basic security principles. Don't work as an Admin, don't click stupid links, update your software. These are probably most important things.

There are lots of anti virus in the market. So you cant judge them all. Better you should update your anti-v program and use licenses copy only.

Im personally using Kaspersky 2011 + Malwarebytes Anti-Malware combo. Kaspersky - for real time protection, while Anti-Malware does great job of scanning entire PC. Although I tend to turn off certain Kaspersky features (like autoupdate, autoscan, IM Antivirus, System Watcher), because it uses a lot of aditional RAM and slows down PC in general.
Anti-Malware is a freeware, while you can get a 90 days trial version of Kaspersky 2011 by downloading a Spanish version of it (its easy to change language to English after instalation).

Dammit, does that mean that I shouldn't be doing that? I really wanted a trojan, I heard those are really neat, but alright
Essentials. Sandboxie.

They are neat Scott. They have little warriors inside that come out at night and burn your city down!

You can download a trusted anti-software from the safe website, and install it on your computer. After that, you keep your anti-virus software running all the time to protect your PC from virus.

A typical error that many individuals create is starting e-mails from senders that they are not acquainted with. This is a dangerous way of getting a malware especially if the e-mail came with an connection.

If you follow a good sense of security, then your computer will be immune to viruses, spyware etc.
I personally find anti-virus are eating my computer memory too much. So, I didn't use an anti-virus, but I always practice safe browsing, I didn't open email attachment even from my friends. I always disable auto-run in windows. Never share flash-drive etc.
In some cases where I need to share flash-drive with people I use ubuntu to open the flash drive and delete any .exe, .vbs, autorun.inf which are potential viruses then copy the files that I require and edit them.
I do use occasional CCleaner to clean up my disk.
finally keep my system up-to-date.

"follow a good sense of security, then your computer will be immune to viruses" Immune? Seriously?
Actually not having an AV program on your pc is "bad sense" not good. And your logic is illogical. You can in fact, have the very best antivirus program installed on your pc and you're STILL not completely safe from getting viruses, spyware or malware.
CCleaner is a registry cleaner it will not remove any viruses or malware from your pc. At best it removes tracking cookies.
Practising "safe" browsing will NOT keep you safe online.....even "safe" sites are victim to hackers. And what about searching? most people do - in fact searching is the most popular usage of the internet. If you don't have an AV program on your pc you WILL get spyware, malwares, trackers, trojans, bad scripts, highjackers, and/or..... viruses.
There is no such thing as "safe browsing"
Few people share their flash drives so there is little to no chance of getting a virus from it - unless you share it which you should NEVER do -period.
And you don't have to open email attachments to get viruses. Sometimes all you have to do is open the email. Sometimes the email client is hacked so just going to your email account makes you susceptible to attacks. My point is......well - you're a fool if you think you don't NEED an AV program.
There are litterally hundreds of av programs out there that use very little RAM. IMO they don't protect as well as others do but its better than having NOTHING on your computer.

Recently i move toward Avast from AVG due to it's working.Although Avg is the best security software but this could be slow your pc speed. If you have some heavy hardware equipped pc than go for it.
