I have some training DVDs and I want to make backup copies.

I am using Vista Ultimate.

What's the best method / best tool for ripping and burning DVD copies?

when did this become "ripping"? What happened to calling it "importing"? Which is a far more accurate description. Or copying and duplicating? RIPping, comes from the print industry, and refers to Rastor Image Processing.

I hear Nero is good for that kind of thing.

Nero is good. Also daemon tools which creates the disc image.

I have never heard anyone to call it "importing", while ripping is used everywhere as the term for making a DVD copy.

Actually "ripping" is the slang term for removing copyright protection from a CD or DVD.

I don't like that slang word. Ripping used to have a meaning that made sense. Exactly what is being "ripped?"

Ahhh Wikipedia the shining light of all things accurate.

"ripping" has become synonomous with copying, but when record companies began applying copy protection the programming term was "stripping" for stripping away the protection bits (binary digits) that are embedded in the digital media

I still don't like the use of the word. Stripping makes more sense. Especially after a few beers.

Just upgraded to DVD MovieFactory Pro 7, unfortunately this isn't a freeware, but works quite well.

I use SlySoft's AnyDVD and it saved me a lot of grief when our CD boxes where stolen outside a club, all the disc thieves got were copies.
